Slip Case with Magnetic Closure

Title:  Slip Case with magnetic closure and panel

 DATE: November 17, 2018 8am to 4pm

Location: Your Bindery, 991 S. Jason St. Denver 80223

NOTE: There is also a $20 materials fee due the day of the class.

Description:

We will be making a slip case with a closure that protects the spine and is held in place with magnets.  There is also a panel that is placed next to the flap to make the top even.  We will be using a “Double Wall” technique to construct the slip case.  I will go through how to measure and cut the pieces; however, in the interest of time, the pieces for the class will be pre-cut.   I will supply a “practice book”, glue, board, magnets, paper for lining case, and some paper and bookcloth.  The techniques learned in this class will help in other boxes you may want to make.

I will also have available for purchase, $25, a journal kit so the students can “case in” so that you will have something besides the Hardy Boy book.  The journal is hand sewn, pages are Mohawk Superfine 70lb paper.  The spine has been glued, lined, and leather end bands have been added.  If we have time at the end of class, we can case in the journal. The pictures are of the slip case with the optional journal.
